Work for School

Since I've been stuck at home and in bed, I've been able to get a lot of my school work done when I wasn't sleeping. Last week, I had to create a webpage about myself (I couldn't use a blog or some webpage creator on the Internet). It was tedious because I have to house all my files on the school's server which is contrary to upload to (most of the time). So far this is what I've created:
My professor and classmates have been very complimentary, which has really lifted my spirits... not to mention the research paper is COMPLETE for my other class. By the way, thanks for all of your prayers... I'm feeling better and I'm going to work tomorrow come hell or high water ;-)

Second Life

Ok... maybe I'm actually a little behind the times with this one... I just discoved "Second Life". It's a virtual world that I heard about the technology convention I attended earlier this month. I hadn't taken the time to explore until now... since I've been confined to bed for the better part of 7 days! Anyway, you have to check it out... I created my avatar... her name is "pdavis105 Zapatero"... I know it's a weird name. Here's a screenshot of her:

Say a Little Prayer...

I missed an entire week of work last week because of some complications (excruciating head and neck ache) I had with a spinal tap procedure I had done Monday. I've been laying on my back (in my bed or recliner when I about to go crazy from being stuck upstairs) all week long. I finally called the doctor who sent me to the surgi-center to have a blood patch on my spinal cord, which gave me instant relief from the head/neck pain. I couldn't walk very well (back pain), Friday, but my head was completely better. I was so excited because I could return to work Monday. Well now I am having the severe headaches again anytime I stand up! I am having some weird vision problems too, that would totally prevent me from going to the office Monday if it doesn't get better. Well today is Saturday... I have all day tomorrow to get better ;-) Please say a little prayer for me (and my sweet husband, WD, who has had to manage the house, work, and kids all alone for the last week).

Blast from the Not-So-Long-Ago Past

I found this little video we made of Erin during Christmas 2004 when we lived in Baton Rouge. I did a little editing and this is what I ended up with:

Neat "How To" Video

This is cool... my cousin sent this little video clip to me... no more hunting around for chip clips or trying to squeeze the bag into a twist:

Great Summer Vacation

We ended up having a wonderful time in Destin with all of Erin & Dylan's cousins. The water wasn't as pretty as it had been in the past (they were experiencing something called "June Grass", which basically was heavy seaweed along the beach), but it didn't seem to hinder the kids and it even added some humor to the water fun (see WD's newest fashion statement... yes, that is a seaweed mustache!) I think my favorite part of the trip was getting up whenever I felt like it, enjoying Dad & Mom's delicious breakfast, and wearing no make-up. WD and I celebrated our 15th anniversary while in Destin. We left the kiddos at the condo with Granny & Pawpaw while we went to eat fondue at the Melting Pot then went shopping at the outlet mall. WD finally found some really nice and fashionable shoes while I found the perfect set of earphones for my i-Pod. Only a couple of rainstorms, but that didn't dampen our fun. We ended up playing Spades and a boardgame called "Apples to Apples". We had a wonderful time and I can't wait until our trip next year!

Hanging Out in Destin

Some of the highlights so far...
  • Lego world occupies the kiddos when the weather gets rough.
  • Who knew bad weather could be so beautiful (check out the storm clouds behind our condo)?
  • Dylan has nearly mastered the wake-board.

How many Me's are there?

My aunt sent me a cool little website that can give statistical information on names. Click here to check it out. You can simply type in your first and last name and the site will spit out stats on it. Here's how my name stacks up:

Statistically the 186th most popular first name.
More than 99.9 percent of people with the first name Paula are female.

4th of July Festivities

We had a ton of friends, family, & neighbors join us for fireworks and food. Chewee especially loved the fireworks. Poor dog doesn't realize they could hurt him... he just loves playing "firework fetch"! Kids jumped on the trampoline, played hide & seek, ate cupcakes, popped fireworks, drank fruit slushy drinks, and much more.

San Antonio & THE Research Paper

It's been too long since I posted! I haven't been able to do too many things that I love lately, though. Summer school started with a vengeance... what was I thinking to take my research class in the summer?!? I guess, on the bright side, I'll be done quicker this way. Well I have had some fun... I had to go to San Antonio all this week for work. It was a great trip. I attended NECC (a conference for computer freak educators). It was a blast... learned a ton of cool things. One of the first sessions I sat in was a hands-on thing about a program called audacity and how to produce podcasts. You have to check this one out I produced of Erin & Dylan after I got home... they are too much!

In between sessions, I pulled the laptop out to work on my research paper. The introduction has been turned in (a total of something like 12 pages!). Anyway, here are a few fun photos of me and my friend and coworker Kim in San Antonio.
