Kitchen Dining

I finally have replaced the old wood and white table set that WD and I bought nearly 10 years ago. We were going to try to refinish it with the weathered black look, but were unsuccessful. Now we have a new set and new barstools too! I'm so excited...

Meet Dave

I took Erin & Dylan to see "Nim's Island" Wednesday night... Erin loved it because the star of the show was an 11 year old girl... Dylan liked the lizard/dragon creatures in it... I thought it was a good movie for the kids. The best thing about going to the theater this time was seeing the previews... I'm not normally a big preview fan (let's get to the movie I paid to see), but I almost peed my pants when I saw Eddie Murphy's movie trailer for "Meet Dave" You have to check it out. Just click on the link to watch it... the part that had me rolling on the floor was where he was instructed that it would probably be good to "imitate the guy". This one is due out this summer, July 11th, and it's going to be hilarious!!!

Birmingham Dance Competition

I traveled to Birmingham, Alabama this past weekend to take Erin to the Nexstar Dance Competition. We had a very fun time. Birmingham wasn't the most picturesque place I have visited, but it was neat staying in a hotel built in 1925. The best part of course was watching my girl dance! She was amazing (I'm not biased). The hiphop dance her group performed won top honors with a platinum rating and 1st place trophy. It was awesome!!! (The few photos above are a few photos that I was able to snap before the judges made an announcement that no photos were allowed... these are of Erin's tap dance.)

Patio Progress

We (I use that term lightly... since it has really been WD and Dad Roddy) have been working on our patio. We've had the addition to the house done for quite some time now, but now we are adding the details. WD bought a Jenn-Air and an ice machine to install along one wall of the patio/outdoor kitchen area. Dad Roddy is making the cabinets. WD hung really cool fans yesterday and caulked up/prepped a wall along the side of the outdoor kitchen area to protect it from the weather. I can't wait until it's all done. I'm so excited, that I am working on recovering our patio loveseat and chairs, plus we were able to find the table & chairs set at Home Depot that I had been wanting to get! It was nice before, but now it will be our little piece of paradise (assuming I can get some plants to grow around it, too)! When it is all done, I'll post a couple of photos here.

West Monroe

I am traveling for work again today. I have to be in Monroe, Louisiana tomorrow to present the teacher certification website to the pre-service teachers attending ULM... my ole alma mater. When driving, I had beautiful weather and a rather quiet, scenic drive. I decided to drive through town to see what was around. Things have changed quite a bit. One thing hasn't changed... the hospital where I was born on Thomas Road in West Monroe, Glenwood Hospital. It's still here, but seems to have had a facelift... I wonder when I'll need mine (LOL)?

Loving Daylight Saving

While sitting on the back patio Sunday evening, I enjoyed watching Dylan and Chewee play. We've had Chewee for over a year now, and I can honestly say that Chewee is the perfect fit for our family. He absolutely loves each of us with all of his little puppy heart. He loves to wrestle and get vicious with WD. He sleeps and snuggles with Erin at night. He curls up in my lap every evening while we watch TV. As you can see by these photos, Chewee sees Dylan as his equal, his playmate, and his best friend. Too cute!

Designing Again...

I decided to try my hand on the design team again for Scrapbook & Co. It's such a great way to stretch and challenge my creativity. The store's owner just re-did the store's website which includes the layouts from the design team. The colors are off a bit, but you can check out my first layout for this term posted on the store's site. I was able to use pictures from Easter 2008 where the cousins went on the annual egghunt. I can't wait to pick up my next design assignment tomorrow! Very fun!
