Destin Day 5

Well the weather finally hit and it hit hard... it was like something out of a movie! A few people from our group went to the outlet mall, while me, WD, Erin, Dylan, Dad Roddy, Blane and Jamie played on the beach. It was sunny and very warm. We saw dark skies in the far-off distance, but it was a long way off. We had dark skies the day before and the weather never dimmed, so we weren't in any hurry to pick up. Before we knew it, we could see the whirlwind of sand and rain swirling toward us down the beach. With the torrent of weather came beach floats, towels, and worst of all the huge 6 foot beach umbrellas tumbling end over end! We scrambled to grab our things, but it was too late... the storm had arrived. It was so scary as Blake's huge canopy tent lifed off the ground and began to fly through the air towards Erin. She ducked just in time to avoid being slammed by the metal legs of the canopy. Dylan was running back and forth across the beach when I looked up to see one of the umbrellas tumbling towards him. WD screamed for the kids to get out of the way and head up to the house. Everything was soaked and we were all exhausted. Hopefully today we will have much clearer skies and a safer day.

Destin 2007

We made it to Destin! This is a tradition started by my in-laws. They generously rent a condo/house for the entire family which includes Mom and Dad Boudreaux (of course), the 8 grandchildren (Erin, Dylan, Caden, Blaise, Titus, Victoris, Hayden and Zann), WD's 2 sisters and their spouses (Brooklyn, Zach, Brandi and Brett), WD's 2 brothers (Blane, Jamie, Blake and Sherry). It's a huge group, having huge fun! We just got here around 3PM, but we've already made a few memories. The first began with an "encounter" at McDonald's. A woman and man entered the restaurant from a side door and proceeded to the counter to order when everyone else in the place, including our huge clan, was waiting in a line that extended out of the restaurant. Blane assertively (and a bit loudly) announces that the people are rude. They ignored us, so Dad tapped the lady on the shoulder and explained we were all there first. She ignored us, then Brooklyn looked her in the eye and flat out said she was rude. WD even confronted the woman. The woman continued to stand at the counter and order despite being so obviously being called out about her rudeness. The only response we got from her was, "Leave me alone!" It was rather comical, but in the end the woman and her pansy-of-a-husband got their food first. It was worth the drama to get our food later... it made for an interesting lunch. Once at the beach-house, the kids rushed the beach. Erin rode a tube in the waves and Dylan tried to wake-board.
